ANSWERS:

What is the best time for sodding?

Sodding may be done at anytime of the growth season. The grass is already developed, and is unaffected by the heat or the sun (just keep it moist!).

How to water sod?

Once the sod is installed, the most important part begins - the watering. It is absolutely crucial to keep the lawn constantly moist for the first 14 days. That means watering it at least 2 times a day, and if possible - even more!

Can sod be laid over triple mix?

Yes. In general, sod can be laid over any type of growth medium. However, the more rich that medium is with nutrients, the better it will grow - short and especially long term.

Triple Mix is a good choice. However we recommend grow-max whenever available - that’s what we use in providing our services.

Grow max is a higher grade type of soil, with higher level of nutrients, and much better moisture and air holding properties - very important factors for the success of a new lawn.

What determines the cost of a new lawn - sod installation per square foot?

The current condition of the area, and the amount of work required to properly prepare the area for a new lawn - for sod installation - is the most important factor in determining costs.

All weeds must be killed (we only use organic weed killer), soil needs to be turned over graded, etc’.

The quality of existing soil is also very important - the worse it is, the harder it is to work, and the more nutrients need to be worked in - to assure proper growth of the new lawn.

How to stop dandelions without using chemicals?

There are brand new organic products out there, such as Corn Gluten that helps to prevent new seed from germinating - hence not allowing new weeds to grow!

What is the best time to over-seed?

It is best to over seed in late spring or early fall - the key is to have mild temperatures (between 10C-24C). Excess heat may burn the young grass, and the lack of rain requires frequent watering.
