FAQs
Hydration is paramount in the two weeks following your sodding installation. Within that timeframe, it’s recommended to water your grass 2 to 6 times a day. This can vary based on the current climate conditions and your plot’s soil type. The ideal duration for watering is around 15 to 20 minutes, preferably in the early morning between 6am and 8am. The third week after your new lawn installation, you can begin to decrease the number of times you water your sodded grass. This may be once a day or once every other day, depending on the weather.
Sod takes on average 2 to 3 weeks to establish healthy roots in the soil. In optimal growing conditions, sod roots may establish faster, within approximately 10 to 14 days. After the roots have grown, the grass will begin to mature. It takes approximately six weeks for the sod to reach its full thickness after installation.
No. Laying new sod over old grass prevents the sod from being able to reach the soil and develop strong roots. Without easy access to the soil, the sod won’t obtain the proper nutrients to thrive. If laid on top of old grass, the sod will eventually die. In order for the sod grass to grow, the existing grass and debris must be removed from the area before installing the new sod roll.
We install Kentucky Bluegrass, known for its green vibrant colour, durability and resistance to heat. In addition, we add a layer of Triple Mix Soil to enhance the lasting results of your lawn.
We suggest waiting for about two weeks in order for the new sod rolls to establish proper roots.
The best time to lay new sod is during late April and late November when temperatures are cooler but grass can continue to grow.
One of the most important signs you need new sod is when there are bare spots or patchy grass. Other signs include:
– Weeds throughout the area
– Bumpy lawn
– Serious grass diseases
– Poor drainage
If you notice these signs on your current lawn, contact our team to book an assessment today.
This is an option if the client requests it (at an additional cost) and this procedure would be done a week before the sod installation. We apply natural weed control products to help get better results. The thickness of the sod also helps to suppress weed growth.
Most sodding projects can take one day to complete, but depending on the size of the lawn, layout, access and grading, it can vary.
